An Even Easier Way to Make Payments

We’ve been seeing a lot of ‘instant pay’ applications and bank account transactions through mobile devices. Whether through Paypal, or through your bank, instant payments and depositing checks have gotten much easier (and lets you skip a trip to the bank). Now, there’s a new app called Bump Pay from Bump that allows you to pay friends just by tapping 2 iPhones together. The user enters the appropriate value, and then bumps the second user’s phone to transfer payments! This would be a great app for when you’re out to dinner with a group of friends and need to split the check; problem solved!

Skittles Hidden Easter Eggs

Skittles launched a series of ‘Touch the Rainbow‘ fun youtube videos in which the viewer places their finger on the skittle on the computer screen and watches how it interacts with funny situations and characters. In these videos, hidden annotations are also placed somewhere within the clips that lead the viewer to ‘easter eggs,’ or secret Skittles videos. To find these annotations, hover your cursor around the video screen. Try to find all of the secret videos (5 in total).

This is the first hidden easter egg which can be found from the Dr. Cyclops video. A hilarious parody of a pharmaceutical commercial, promoting Skittles as a non medical cure for everything (…or not!).

‘Brand Spirit’ by Andrew Miller

If a branded product was stripped from all of its visual elements, would it still be recognizable? Does it still have meaning to the consumer? What exactly defines a brand? Andrew Miller, a branding, design and communication strategist, is conducting a project in which each day for 100 days, he paints a branded object completely white. This project, which is called ‘Brand Spirit‘ is an interesting experiment that makes it evident how prominent brand awareness is in everyday life. How many of these objects can you recognize as brands in its minimalist form? Which ones seem to lose their identity? You can follow Andrew Miller’s project through this tumblr site.
