Makoto Tojiki’s Light Sculptures

Makoto Tojiki, a Japanese artist, created amazing works of art made completely out of strands of light. These strands of light form together to create 3D sculptural illusions. The outcome certainly gives the viewer a completely new experience of sculptural art, and changes our perception of light and form. Makoto explains, “An object is seen when our eyes capture light that is reflected from the object. If we extract just the light that is reflected from ‘something,’ are we still in the presence of that ‘something?’ Using contours of light, I try to express this ‘something.'”
