The Invisible Umbrella

We all hate it when your umbrella breaks in the middle of a rainstorm, but what if you didn’t have to worry about that? Designers Je Sung Park and Woo Jung Kwon have created an umbrella that consists of a handle that shoots out air to repel raindrops and creates an invisible curtain to keep you dry. The handle can be adjusted to the severity of rain, and can keep you dry wherever you go!

Birds on Twitter

What if real birds could tweet? Latvian Independent magazine, IR, decided to create a keyboard covered with blocks of unsalted fat to attract real birds and create their own tweets on Twitter. This was to reinforce the magazine’s online presence and their principle that everyone has the right to be heard, including the birds struggling to survive in the winter. Their twitter handle was linked to @hungry_birds and created the microsite Birds On Twitter to promoted this experiment and to stream the birds live.

Bird’s Eye Thanksgiving Day Parade

Navid Baraty, a Brooklyn-based photographer, created a series of photographs of the Thanksgiving Day parade from a bird’s eye view. He states, ‘I shot them from the roof of a 30-story building along 6th Avenue at 37th Street. It was so amazing to watch the parade from above. I grew up watching the parade on Thanksgiving morning with the family and it was my first time seeing it in person. It’s crazy how small it all seemed from high above when you’re so used to seeing how giant the balloons look on TV that appear to be towering up into the buildings. It was also pretty cool to be able to see the whole line of floats and balloons coming down 6th Avenue all the way up to the southern edge of Central Park.’
