In the world of creativity, if you're not starting a fire, then what's the point? So, we've created a portal to celebrate the most revolutionary and thought-provoking ideas we're seeing in the world today. Some are ideas we've recognized from others and we're tipping our hats to, and others are ones we thought of (go figure). Either way you cut it, you won't find a dull moment here, and hopefully we've inspired you to start your own fire.
The Super Bowl is widely known to be the most watched American Television event of the year and it’s not just because of the football. Let’s face it, half of America is tuning in just for the commercials and we as marketers, love it. It’s the biggest single broadcast advertising play any brand can make, both in terms of dollars and impressions. So, in anticipation of what’s to come this Sunday, we’ve narrowed down the top 5 most memorable commercials from last years big day.
Plain texts may be fine for some people, but us creatives sometimes just want to stylize and edit those grey and blue/green blurbs! The creators of Notegraphyhave made our dreams possible! They have designed a free app that can instantly transform your plain texts into beautifully designed images. The app has been described as “the Instagram for text”.
Users can insert their text into a variety of already-made design collections by famous designers. The app also allows users to insert their own logo and tagline into the design for a more personal touch. Once the design is finished, the user can share it with friends via social media, or save it to their phone for later.
What Sparks our Fire: An app that makes sharing our thoughts with friends beautiful and easy!
As if 3D printing isn’t revolutionary enough, our world is now being introduced to 3D printers reinventing the way we cook and eat. The Foodini helps create savory or sweet cuisine. The food is real food, made from fresh ingredients prepared before printing. The device only prints the food, which must be cooked as usual after. The Foodini promotes cooking at home with fresh ingredients & healthy eating, which in today’s society is easily neglected.
Foodini is revolutionizing the way users interact with kitchen appliances. The front has a touchscreen that connects to a recipe site in the cloud, says Lynette Kucsma, co-founder of Natural Machines. She also claims users will be able to control the device using a smartphone and share their recipes with others.
What Sparks our Fire: An appliance that makes preparing healthy food easy, and interactive.
What are your thoughts about the way Foodini is revolutionizing the way we cook/prepare food? Would you use it in your kitchen?
As much as we love our devices, we do find that some of our best ideas come out of our impromptu meetings where we are literally putting pen to paper. After those inspired sessions, we spend a few hours transcribing the analog chicken scratch on the backs of our napkins back into our digital realities. But what if the notes we were taking in our meetings were being transferred into our calendars on our phones, or were being made email ready? The Livescribe Echo Smartpen connects to your tablet or smartphone, connecting your hand drawn notes with your calendar, notes, and other apps. It also allows you to record audio while you’re taking notes, and then play them back later.
What Sparks our Fire: A pen that allows you to get your creative juices flowing in the real world, while seamlessly translating it back to your digital devices.
What do you think about Livescribe 3 Smartpen? Would you use it?
Like the majority of our fellow New Yorkers, we’re constantly on-the-go, multi-tasking, and always on our devices. In our constant quest to find technologies and hacks that can help us streamline our lives we’ve found The Dash, the world’s first completely in-ear wireless smartphone.
The Dash is this year’s winner of the CES 2015 Innovation Award, and for good reason! The bluetooth component eliminates the need to carry your phone with you. The microphone picks up mechanical vibration generated by your voice from the ear bone.
Did we mention these earbuds also serve as activity trackers? It tracks pace, steps, heart rate, oxygen saturation, energy spent, etc. all the while real time acoustic feedback is provided. On the train, in your car, at the gym or running to your next meeting, these wireless buds keep you tangle-free, connected and on target to meet your fitness goals.
What Sparks our Fire: a device that synchs music, phone calls, and fitness tracking… wirelessly.
