Izhar Gafni, an Israeli engineer, created a $9 working cardboard bike that can hold up to 485 pounds. According to Gafni, he was inspired by an inventor who created a canoe out of cardboard; ‘It struck me and I couldn’t get it out of my head, why not make a bicycle out of cardboard?’ He discovered that by folding the cardboard, he could triple the strength; and once he was able to make it look like a real bike, he experimented with treatments for the cardboard so it would be both water and fireproof. Watch the video below to learn more about how he created this amazing bike.
