Flexing our creative muscles, the team at Canopy paired this brand with a completely unrelated category to see what we could come up with; keeping the brand objectives, aesthetics, and purpose in mind. The result? Ink-Efficient Printers.
Why Ink-Efficient Printers? Volkswagen, or “people’s car” in German, has been widely known to produce automobiles that are environmentally and economically friendly. Volkswagen uses clean diesel technology, as well as hybrid-electric technology. With fuel-efficiency, sleek style, and continuous quest for technology advancements, VW has made milestones and has redefined the the automobile industry.
Because of this, Volkswagen would make vast improvements on an office device that already exists. If VW already makes fuel-efficient cars, why not make ink-efficient printers?
The Name: Die Tinte; which means “The Ink” in German.
The Look: The mock-up of this laser-jet compact printer is designed to be easily stored on a desk. Drawing from inspiration of the rear part of the classic Volkswagen Beetle, the sides and edges are rounded; buttons and notification lights are reminiscent of tail lights. This printer is not only functional, but is also a piece of decor for your office.
The Function: When turned on, the printer’s tray pops open and the paper feeder pops up from the top. This printer can be hooked up to a computer via USB cord, which is also built within the printer and is retractable, so no other cords are necessary. It can also work via wifi, so it can be accessible to more than one computer.
Late for a meeting and need to print something quickly? This device not only works by clicking ‘print’ on your computer, but it is also programmed to print on-the-run with the use of its own remote. The remote notifies the user of print errors, lack of paper, and ink before it begins. It also tracks the progress and status of the prints and gives you the option to cancel. The settings for quick-print can be programmed onto the remote and you can choose the what to print by looking at the small screen on the remote that lists appropriate documents that are already saved on your computer. No need to open the document from your computer! This remote allows you to print from wherever you are in the room. Quick and easy.
