Instagram Introduces Carousel Ads for Brands

On Wednesday, the company announced that brands can now pay to display up to four photos in a photo carousel, as well as include an active URL link. These new features give brands the ability to connect directly with their consumers by integrating brand messaging into social media streams without interrupting the digital experience.

Instagram’s announcement will further contribute to the changing landscape of traditional and digital advertising, opening a new channel for brands to tell in-depth stories and connect with consumers on deeper levels. It is similar to Snapchat’s recent introduction of the branded Stories feature. This is certainly an exciting move for Instagram, but will these new features disrupt the flow of the users’ feeds? By limiting the photo carousel to four photos, Instagram hopes to be able to balance the user experience with in-depth story telling from its advertisers.
